This sandwich is spectacular if you make it with lots of mayonnaise, as much Tabasco as you can stand and tomatoes just plucked from the garden. You will not be able to eat just one.
We ate this sandwich at our cousin’s house where we spent a lot of time. Our cousin, Anna Faye (Midgett) Gentry, who is just a little older than Portia, lived with her father and mother, Mattie and Fulton Midgett, and her grandmother, Granny Midgett (Sarah Francis Midgett). We think Anna Faye invented this sandwich and we are very grateful.
