Boil one cup of water in a small pan. Put tea bags in water, boil 15 to 20 seconds and remove pan from heat. Cover pan and let tea steep for 5 minutes. Put 1 cup of sugar in gallon pitcher or jug. Remove tea bags and pour hot tea over sugar. Stir until sugar has melted. Fill to one gallon of tea; or, if you are going to serve the tea immediately, use ice cubes as part of the additional water to cool off the tea. Serve over ice and with lemon.
Wash cucumber and thinly slice into a bowl or jar. Cover with water, vinegar and salt. Let stand at least one hour before serving.
Wash thoroughly. Remove bad leaves from the tops. Remove the outside layer of onion from the bulb. Cut off just enough of the onion tops to remove any scraggly ends. Place in a jar or glass with water. Cut off the roots just before eating.
